DescriptionThis installation derives from the artist's research into the Lyceum of Natural History at Williams College and Herbert D. N. Jones, Class of 1914, who donated a number of Maya objects to the College. The project asks questions about how certain kinds of objects become part of institutional collections, what happens to them once they are displaced from their original contexts and will propose alternative ways of seeing and engaging with them.
This installation will consist ot two Maya tenon sculptures from WCMA's holdings displayed in conversation with metal sculptures by the artist in the museum's Stoddard Gallery.
