This installation honors the lives of unnamed former enslaved people that worked to build Western Massachusetts, and who remain invisible as their graves are unmarked. The title XX refers to the name given to the mass graves resulting from the war in El Salvador.
This installation will be made with 47 handmade shaped and welded rocks and piled together. The rocks will not be attached to each other. WCMA may supply magnets on/under the ground and/or between rocks in the pile to deter their movement and hold the elements in place.
