Poverty (subject tagging)

Info

This pilot project, researched by graduate intern Emil Corb, explores ways to help visitors find socially-relevant work in WCMA's collection. Topics relating to economic status and class identity, which are of great interest to students using the collection, are hard to find unless they are named in the title of the work. However, tagging such works with terms like "poverty" risks marginalizing and stereotyping subjects and artists. Read more about this project here
