Stitching Memories: African-American Story Quilts

This exhibition was the centerpiece of ART: AFRICAN-AMERICAN, a series of exhibitions and related programs organized to celebrate the centennial of Williams College's first black graduate, Gaius Charles Bolin, Class of 1889. After opening at Williams on April 15, 1989 the exhibition traveled to the following venues; The Studio Museum in Harlem; NY; The Oakland Museum, CA; The Baltimore Museum of Art, MD; City Gallery of Contemporary Art, NC; Taft Museum, OH; Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, TN; The Strong Museum, NY, closing on October 27, 1991
